Our approach to digital & web design

With many years experience designing for the web, Digital Design understands that web design is about a great deal more than just making a website 'look nice'. Our aim is to deliver designs that not only look professional and modern, but perform well on a number of technical levels. In addition we adopt a 'partnership' approach to our projects, which means we will be with you all the way from the initiation of a new project, through design and development to tesing, training and ongoing support and marketing should it be needed.

Digital Design starts a new design project with a informal chat to get a feel for the broad requirements of the project, we will then help you complete a design brief to get a clear understanding of what exactly the client requires from the design. By doing this we find that our designs are usually very close to our client's expectations on the first iteration.

Once the design brief has been completed, and depending on the complexity of the development, we will then produce a 'site map' . This is a visual diagram which shows the structure of the underlying website and ensures that the information architecture of the website matches up with the objectives of the design brief. It also provides useful information for the designer who will be drawing on this when he considers the importance of various links and navigation within the site template and homepage layout.

If the project contains signifcant functionality which is beyond the scope of a CMS product, we may recommend additional analysis to determine the extent and nature of these functions.

The designer will then produce a number of 'flats' or mockups which represent how the finished site will look. These are produced to scale and delivered electronically, usually in jpeg format, so that our clients can see a very accurate picture of the finished site.

We then complete any changes or amendments to the design before the design is approved by the client and is ready for development.
