Adventurous Experiences

As the Isle of Man's leading sea kayaking and team building activity centre, Adventurous Experiences needed a replacement website that not only reflected the exciting nature of the business, but also was easy to use and easy to maintain.

As the project was an ideal candidate for the Isle of Man's DTI Business Support Scheme, the first step was to seek approval for funding. Once this had been obtained, Digital Design carried out workshops with the client to find out what exactly was required and determine the scope of the web development required.

It was decided that the best approach was to split the project into two phases, the first to deliver a new, content managed website to meet the client's immediate need to be able to change and update events, news and staff, and the second to carry out business and technical analysis to identify the requirements for an 'Adventure Club' booking system and online community.

The new site went live early in 2009 and has provided the owner Keirron Tastagh with a way to make frequent updates to his site without having to wait for a web designer or developer to carry out simple changes at extra cost.

Digital Design have also carried out Search Engine Optimisation and have advised on integrating third party services like YouTube and Picasa into the website. From the outset, the nature of Keirron's business meant that utilising social media and shared content was going to be the ideal way to promote the business in an 'organic' but effective way.

As a result of several months of gradual optimisation through on page and off page techniques, several pages on the site now appear on page 1 of Google for 'long tail keywords' such as 'Isle of Man Corporate Training' and 'Gorge scrambling' .
